Glassware produced during the great depression was very inexpensive so most households could afford to purchase it during those difficult times. Not only is depression era glassware a beautiful color but also, because of the large number of glass producers making glassware during this era they also made a lot of fantastic patterns and styles. It is no wonder that people nowadays are always looking for depression era glassware for sale. Today it is one of the most collectable items sought after because of its timeless beauty, patterns and styles.

Seven major glass producers made most of the depression era glassware for sale on today’s market. Between them they produced over ninety wonderful designs.

The first company to produce a true Depression glass design, called Avocado or also referred to as Sweet Pea, was the Indiana Glass Company in 1923. Of all the pieces of Avocado depression era glassware for sale, one of the hardest items to find is Depression glass pitchers. Many believe the difficulty in finding an Avocado or Sweet Pea pitcher is due to the age of the piece. In 1933, after ten years of producing Avocado glassware, the Indiana Glass Company retired the design.

Some of the most expensive depression era glassware for sale today is Royal Lace. Produced by the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company starting in 1934, a set of Royal Lace glassware was comprised of 28 pieces altogether. This highly collectable and costly glassware comes in various colors such as:

  • Pink

  • Blue
  • Burgundy
  • Clear

The most valued and sought after piece of Hazel-Atlas depression era glassware for sale is Blue Royal Lace.

The Hocking Glass Company produced Cameo pattern depression glass from 1930 until 1934. Often referred to as Dancing Girl or Ballerina, the Cameo glassware always has a tiny dancer on all its pieces. When looking for depression era glassware for sale the most difficult Cameo glass to find is crystal, pink and yellow.
